Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled (KEPAD)
Korea Nazarene University (KNU)
PEN-International hosted an eight person delegation from Korea for a week of workshops focusing on Instructional Technology/Design, Classroom Communication/Access and the Employment Issues. Joong-O (Kevin) Yoon, Hyung Soo Kim, Hae Jun Park, Nam-Gil Kim represented the Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled (KEPAD); and Churl Hee Han, Hyunbea You, Byung Chen Yoon, Jin-Seok Chang represented the Korea Nazarene University (KNU)
Joeann Humbert, Richard Fasse, John Macko, Jonathan Mills, Karen Downs, Kathleen Darroch, Lissa Schaefer, Michael Burns, Pamela Francis, Robert Brewer, Sidney Barefoot, Stacy Bick, Corinne Heschke, James DeCaro and E. William Clymer, all RIT/NTID faculty and staff members, conducted the workshops within NTID's new Student Development Center.
Goals
- To provide the members of the Korean delegation with sufficient background information and resources related to their particular interest in Instructional Technology and Classroom Communication so they can begin the process of implementing changes at their institutions.
- To utilize the RIT myCourses system to provide training support, before during and after the delegations visit NTID/RIT.
- To determine the nature of future workshops and collaboration between the affiliate members of PEN-International
Instructional Strategy
Each participant was given an overview of various RIT/NTID approaches to using technology and communication strategies. Participants then accessed additional resources, from the myCourses postings, to a better understanding of the topic and to identify possible strategies for implementation within their own institution.
The RIT myCourses system will be used as a means of sharing resources and communicating with each of the participants. Each member of the delegation will have access to their own myCourses account through September, 2007.
Outcomes
The overall evaluation of the workshops was very positive. More importantly the group agreed to continue their work on the concepts presented, culminating in a continuing of the training and lectures to occur in Korea in June or July 2007.
