RIT Self-Study Design Approved by Middle States
RIT received approval of its proposed Self-Study Design from MSCHE in late August, 2024. The Self-Study Design outlines the approach that the Steering Committee will follow in preparing the University’s Self-Study document. Among other things, the design outlines the four goals for the Self-Study and the approach to organizing information that will be the framework for the work.
With input from the President, Provost, President’s Cabinet and Board of Trustees Executive Committee, four (4) outcomes for the Self-Study Process were established. The fourth outcome enables the Steering Committee to align, to the degree possible, the analysis emanating from the Working Groups with the overlapping strategic planning process.
Given these considerations, the intended outcomes for the Self-Study are as follows:
- Demonstrate how RIT currently meets the Commission’s Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation (Fourteenth Edition) and provides evidence by Standard in alignment with the Evident Expectations by Standard.
- Leverage periodic assessment through each Standard, using assessment results for continuous improvement and innovation to ensure levels of quality for constituents and the attainment of RIT’s priorities, mission, and goals.
- Engage the institutional community in an inclusive and transparent self-appraisal process, including analysis of a range of data, including disaggregated data, to ensure students are appropriately served and institutional mission and goals are met.
- Capitalize on overlapping efforts of RIT’s new Strategic Plan and MSCHE Self-Study to advance RIT’s strategic priorities, identify gaps in the University’s readiness to implement such priorities and recommend opportunities to achieve institutional mission and goals.
