Bio
Ryan Kelly begins his sixth season in 2023-24 as strength & conditioning coach at RIT, coordinating efforts for all 24 of the department's intercollegiate athletic teams.
Kelly spent the 2017-18 season at Division I Sacred Heart University, serving as the assistant strength & conditioning coach. His primary responsibilities included working with men's and women's hockey, along with men's and women's track & field. Training methods included functional and sport specific program development, summer programming, pregame warm-ups and testing and evaluation.
In addition, Kelly spent the summer of 2017 as a high-performance intern at the United States Olympic Training Center, assisting the strength & conditioning staff with program implementation and program development, while working with Olympic hopefuls in figure skating, gymnastics, bobsled, wrestling, para-swimming, para-cycling, and para-judo.
Kelly was a graduate assistant strength & conditioning coach at Ithaca from 2015-17, developing, implementing and evaluating comprehensive training programs for women's volleyball, men's and women's rowing/sculling and women's gymnastics. He also assisted with program implementation for men's and women's basketball, baseball, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer and wrestling.
Kelly earned his bachelor's degree in wellness management from SUNY Oswego in 2015 and obtained a master's degree from Ithaca in exercise and sports science in human performance.
Kelly is a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certified strength & conditioning specialist and is certified as a USA Weightlifting sports performance trainer as well as an American College Sports Medicine (ASCM) personal trainer.
