RIT emerging artists sparkle at Milano Jewelry Week
RIT shined bright at an international celebration of jewelry.
Seven students and recent alumni of RIT’s metals and jewelry design BFA option in the studio arts program and metals and jewelry design MFA program had pieces selected for feature during Milano Jewelry Week’s Talent Show.
Professor Juan Carlos Caballero-Perez traveled to Milano Jewelry Week, which ran Oct. 15-20, to coordinate the display of the student-made work in the juried competition. The showcase, touting creations by 80 emerging artists from institutions around the globe, offered a peek at innovative designs driving the future of the industry.
Four of the RIT artists were chosen as Talent Show winners, as selected by a jury of industry professionals. The recognition included an invitation to participate in a future specialization workshop at Milan art/vocational school Scuola Galdus Formazione. The honored RIT artists were:
- Sierra Apicella (BFA) - “Cloud Series I” brooch
- Hannah Craft (MFA) - “CrossHare” bracelet
- Zixuan Ni (MFA) - “My Heart is Filled With It” brooch
- Ruichu Yu (MFA) - “Painted Ring” rings
Ruorui Mu (BFA), Soph Shufelt (MFA), and Yayan Zhang (MFA) also exhibited pieces in the Talent Show.
