RIT Students To Create ‘Viral Video Lip Dub’ Jan. 9

RIT students and faculty perform flash mob event

Last fall, students and administrators at Rochester Institute of Technology showed just how hip the really are by rehearsing and debuting the first ‘flash mob’ on campus as part of Welcome Week events for new students. At noon Sunday, Jan. 9, RIT takes it to another level by producing a ‘lip dub’ to Survivor’s hit song, Eye of the Tiger, featuring hundreds of RIT community members.

The lip dub is a one-take, lip-sync music video. A similar effort was coordinated by a group of students in Montreal, Canada, who completed a lip dub to I’ve Got a Feeling by Black-Eyed Peas. Watch their lip dub on the College Humor website.

In RIT’s case, hundreds of RIT community members are expected to ascend on the RIT Campus Center for a meticulously choreographed rehearsal that will take participants through the Student Alumni Union, Campus Center, athletic offices and Ritter Ice Arena. The video will be recorded—in one take—at approximately 3 p.m. After editing and captioning, the video will debut during RIT’s Freeze Fest event on Feb. 4.
