Bio
Besides working as Research Faculty for GIS, Dr. Park serves as Assistant Director of Technical Programs at the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I), providing direct technical assistance to industry and administering the R&D program. Dr. Park’s research interests and expertise include membrane filtration, cleaning with less toxic chemicals, and other pollution prevention topics. He has conducted various membrane research projects focusing on ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis and has helped numerous companies evaluate and install membrane systems to reuse water and save on purchase and disposal costs.
With over 30 years of experience in the field, Dr. Park has helped numerous companies evaluate and install membrane systems to reuse water and save on purchase and disposal costs, has trained over a hundred chemical engineering students in the area of pollution prevention, and helped to start one of the country’s first state-run university pollution prevention programs in Rhode Island in 1989. Dr. Park also led the development of a process called Vacuum Cycle Nucleation, a solution established for less toxic cleaning under a National Science Foundation SBIR award. He received his undergraduate and Master’s degrees in chemistry and engineering from Dartmouth College prior to receiving his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of RI.
