Center for Student Innovation hosts Sustainability Mobility Fair
May 8 event spotlights wide-range of alternative energy vehicles
The vehicles of the future will be on display Saturday at RIT’s Center for Student Innovation as the first Sustainability Mobility Fair comes to campus. Visitors will be able to examine more than 20 full-size alternative energy vehicles and view alternative transportation exhibits inside the center.
“Most commuter trips are within six and a half miles from our homes,” says Jon Schull, interim director of the Center for Student Innovation. “I’d venture to say that most people are unaware of the alternative, sustainable methods of transportation that are already available. The Sustainability Mobility Fair should open a lot of eyes.”
The Sustainability Mobility Fair takes place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on May 8 at the Center for Student Innovation.
The vehicles slated to be on display include those that run on electricity, hydrogen, biodiesel, propane, fuel cells, compressed natural gas and even vegetable oil. Visitors will also learn about the proposed Rochester Greenway, a year-round bicycle path that connects RIT, the University of Rochester and downtown Rochester, and have the opportunity to engage in discussions on how to implement more sustainable modes of transportation in Greater Rochester.
