We Are Known For
Acclaimed Faculty
Our faculty are engaged, committed, and passionate. They are global thought leaders in their areas of expertise, and you may often find them pursuing research goals in a lab or traveling abroad in pursuit of inspiration when outside of the classroom. This level of hands-on experience and dedication to sustainability and sustainable design provides students with the best opportunity to learn and directly experience the latest skills and techniques making a difference in the world today.
Innovative Applied Research
In addition to educating the next generation of sustainability experts, we have six research centers dedicated to working with businesses, government entities, and other universities around the world on a variety of efforts to advance sustainability. Our highly skilled researchers come from industry backgrounds and have experience solving problems in a variety of fields, with a focus on utilizing remanufacturing, advanced manufacturing, energy systems, and transportation and mobility solutions.
Global Experiences in Architecture
An international global experience provides a firsthand opportunity to learn about cultural differences and similarities, as well as to experience the differences in architectural practice in different areas of the world. All RIT architecture students will have the opportunity to spend time engaged in architecture-related work abroad or study abroad in western Europe, India, China, or South Korea for a one-of-a-kind architectural experience.
Access to First-Rate Facilities
Our research facilities are vast, encompassing a total of more than 84,000 square feet on the RIT campus containing large industrial high bays, labs, testbeds, classrooms, and conference spaces. A 75,000-square-foot LEED Platinum certified building acts as our headquarters and was thoughtfully designed to demonstrate sustainable building technologies and energy systems, including a rainwater collection system and a microgrid with advanced sensors, as well as fuel cells, photovoltaics, and wind turbines that generate 100% of our energy.
