Biography

Technical Sergeant Tyler J. Oswald is the Enlisted Training Instructor (8B300) for AFROTC Detachment 538 at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. He serves as the primary enlisted advisor on cadet academics, professional development, military training, discipline and morale/welfare for 5 cadre, 10 AFIT students, and 70 AFROTC cadets. He also monitors and updates cadet pay actions—tuition, fees, subsistence and textbook funds in excess of $650K annually. In addition, he oversees the cadet life-cycle personnel actions—medical, physical, enlistments, categorization and commissioning. And handles all administrative and personnel cadet updates via the Web Intensive New Gains System (WINGS).

TSgt Oswald entered the Air Force in August 2014. He graduated from technical training at Shepard Air Force Base in May 2015. Over the last 10 years of active duty service, he has served as the subject matter expert for avionic systems on HH-60G, HH-60W, and HC-130J aircraft and deployed in support of Operations OCTAVE SHIELD and OCTAVE QUARTZ. Prior to his current assignment, TSgt Oswald served as an HH-60 Communication/Navigation Mission Systems Craftsman, Quality Assurance Inspector, and an Avionics NCOIC for both the 41st and 71st Rescue Generation Squadrons and 23d Maintenance Group, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia.
