Venture Creations launches three new companies
More than 25 jobs created as a result of newly launched endeavors
Venture Creations, the business incubator at Rochester Institute of Technology, will celebrate the launch of three new businesses at a graduation ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at RIT’s University Gallery, James E. Booth Hall.
In addition to recognizing the business start-ups, the event will feature a networking reception and a keynote address delivered by Greg Westbrook, founder of ClearCove Systems Inc., a wastewater treatment and renewable energy company that launched from Venture Creations in 2015.
The graduating companies are:
- Council Rock: Founded in 2010 as an engineering services and consulting company, Council Rock designs, integrates and installs wireless networks for electric and gas utilities, oil and gas companies, and public safety agencies.
- Splyce: Splyce Inc. is a multi e-sport company that fields rosters in leagues across North America, Europe and Latin America. Starting with an application, FolloweSports.com, which acts as a “TV Guide” for e-sports, the company has evolved into a significant player and brand in the competitive e-sports industry.
- TouchStream: TouchStream Solutions Inc. is a tablet-based monitoring system that provides assistance to people living independently by helping manage medications, chronic health conditions, doctor appointments and daily activities. Wireless heath devices also track blood sugar, weight and blood pressure, and offers mobile alerts to notify caregivers before crises occur.
Together, the three companies have introduced 27 new jobs into the economy.
As a unit, Venture Creations promotes regional economic development; 26 non-acquired companies from Venture Creations continue to run their businesses in New York state.
“Venture Creations proudly celebrates the launch of these three companies and looks forward to witnessing their contribution to the continued economic development of our region,” said Richard Notargiacomo, incubator director. “Rochester is on a journey toward becoming an innovation hub, and Venture Creations, with our steady stream of top-quality, high-technology companies, is proud to be part of that ecosystem.”
Venture Creations was created in 2003 to provide services to incubating companies, facilitating the development and operation of these companies for the purpose of advancing the educational and research missions of RIT through the enhancement of faculty, student and staff involvement in high technology. It was also created to promote economic development and competitiveness in Monroe County and New York state by encouraging and facilitating the transfer of technology resources to the marketplace. Thirty-three companies have graduated from the incubator and together have created 466 jobs.
