Glacia

Glacia is a drinking glass that integrates a tumbler with a dual purpose coaster and lid, inspired by the Vignellis' Kyoto mugs and lids, as well as their use of primary shapes and colors. Designed specifically for milkshakes, the glass can be placed on its coaster to prevent condensation or drips from reaching the table, or topped with its lid for transit. A small hole allows for a straw to be used while the lid is in place. The form of the glass elegantly shifts
from a circular rim to a square base, which matches a square indentation on the coaster. At its lip, Glacia has a band of colored glass to make it comfortable to hold, which also indicates a good place to start adding whipped cream. Using simple geometry and inspired forms, Glacia epitomizes a classic fountain glass through a modern lens to appeal to past and present sensibilities.
