Melting Point

This glass artwork encapsulates a moment frozen in time, defying the natural flow of molten glass. By shaping the arbitrary and giving it purpose, this collaboration was to transform a fleeting pause into a lasting form.

The Vignelli Canon states how arbitrariness, “seems to have a life of its own rather than an established frame of reference to which to relate to.” While a capricious whim doesn’t recognize disciple or methodology, this result aims to captivate the fusion of intention and the inherent properties of glass, where arbitrariness takes on a life of its own within a defined frame of reference.

The inspiration for this piece is derived from the concept of capturing the essence of movement and preserving it in stillness. Imagine a blazing hot lightbulb on the verge of melting; this artwork emulates that intense heat, yet deliberately halts the inevitable transformation into a heavy, viscous state.

Consider the delicate balance between motion and immobility, as this artwork invites contemplation on the nature of time and the deliberate act of preserving a single moment.
