Webb Auditorium (Boo)
Aileen O. Webb
Mrs. Aileen Osborn Webb (1892-1979) was a trustee of the Institute for 26 years. She received the Founders Award from RIT in 1956, and was vice chairman of the Building Committee for the Henrietta campus construction. Under her direction, the Women's Council of RIT was formed.
In 1944, Mrs. Webb served as founder, president and chairman of the American Crafts Council and in 1956, she founded the Museum of Contemporary Crafts. One of her proudest achievements was the establishment of the School for American Craftsmen in 1944 at Dartmouth College. She was instrumental in bringing the School for American Craftsmen to RIT in 1950 from Alfred University.
The Webb auditorium is a 300-seat auditorium located in the James E. Booth Hall which houses the School for American Crafts and the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. The auditorium was dedicated during the 25th anniversary celebration of the School of American Craftsmen in 1975.
