Briggs Place

William H. Briggs

Briggs Place is one of the roads in the NTID Complex. It is named in honor of William H. Briggs, a trustee from 1895-1927. He was the first vice president of the board from 1910-1923. He also served as Chairman of the committee to purchase works of art from 1910-1927.

William Briggs' son, Theodore C. Briggs, succeeded him on the RIT Board in 1927. Since 1963, he has been an honorary trustee. In 1967, and again in 1972, he received a Distinguished Service Award in recognition for his 45 years of service to the board. He has made significant contributions to the Institute's growth through his membership on the Executive Committee (1945-1961), and as a member of the Nominating and New Campus Education committees.
