Doug Melton, program director of the Entrepreneurial Engineering Program at The Kern Family Foundation, will be the keynote speaker at Rochester Institute of Technology, presenting “Powerful Stuff: An Entrepreneurial Mindset Built on Critical Thinking” as part of the 2019 Eugene H. Fram Signature Lecture in Critical Thinking. The event takes place 3:30-4:45 p.m. Sept. 17 in Ingle Auditorium, located in RIT’s Student Alumni Union.

Vanesa Chiodo, a second-year museum studies student, worked as a public programs intern over the summer at The Strong National Museum of Play. Although she was only going into her second year of classes, Chiodo was eager to get some real work experience under her belt.

More than 30 faculty and staff from 12 colleges across the country met this past August at the AITU Summit: Advancing Student Thinking for 21st Century Success. Organized and led by RIT, participants discussed how critical thinking is essential in today’s complex society.

All RIT graduate students are encouraged to submit proposals for oral presentations, demonstrations or poster talks by midnight Sept. 15 for the annual Graduate Showcase on Nov. 22. The daylong symposium will celebrate the diverse forms of scholarship conducted by RIT students pursuing their master’s or doctoral degree.

Despite rainy weather that moved the annual Tiger Walk indoors, the newest students at RIT and their families today attended the fall convocation in the Gordon Field House, where they were told to welcome new experiences offered to them, pursue their dreams and change the world.

RIT’s Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is forming a new School of Information to recognize the changing roles of information professionals. The school aims to bridge the digital divide and make computing solutions available, accessible, usable and suitable to all.
