Rwanda Wheelchair

Current Solution

Robust, low cost, and repairable wheelchair for children with limited mobility and low income who face many transportation issues in their daily commute to school through the rough terrains of Rwanda. Rwanda Wheelchair will be a project within the curriculum of students at the University of Rwanda. Besides learning how to use tools at the machine shop, students will build a wheelchair as a final result of their learning process, thus creating a constant production.

Problem Statement

Children with disabilities, limited mobility, and low-income families in Rwanda cannot easily reach school due to the rough terrains they must go through daily. The necessity of children's mobility and transportation to schools in different terrains and environments.
