Industry 4.0
Manufacturing challenges are bigger
than ever before.
So is the opportunity.
Manufacturers today face steep customer expectations, thinning margins, lack of qualified workforce, and unreliable supply chains – all at once. Fortunately, we live in the digital era. Our times enable integration of unprecedented information into industrial manufacturing processes. This means faster and better decision making capabilities. What used to depend on guesstimates and take us months can now be driven by data and happen within hours.
Welcome to Industry 4.0
RIT’s Industry 4.0 Transition Assistance Program is designed to prepare Small and Medium Enterprises in New York State for the fourth industrial revolution. Our experienced engineers look at the opportunities presented by Industry 4.0 in the context of company’s strategic objectives and desired benefits. This helps us translate the buzzwords like Robotics, Internet of Things, Big Data, and Machine Learning into tangible bottom-line improvements.
How Can We Help You?
- Digital Maturity Assessments – Determining your digital maturity level and transformation priorities
- Development and Implementation of digital tools: robotics, data analytics, industrial internet of things, machine learning for part identification and quality assessment
- Data integration between machines, sensors and systems
- Enterprise Resource Planning and Manufacturing Execution System software selection
- Mapping process flows to identify automation opportunities
- Automation strategies and technologies
Significant funding assistance is available to cover the cost for us to work with New York State companies on advanced manufacturing projects.
Funding for RIT’s Industry 4.0 program is provided by the New York State Department of Economic Development.

Industry 4.0 Overview Short Video Series
To help you get an introductory understanding of Industry 4.0 through demonstrations, a set of short videos were created by RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability. Each video is less than 5 minutes. Topics include Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Part Tracking Systems like RFID, Vision Systems for part identifications using meshing vision and machine learning, Robotics, and Dashboards using Grafana for real-time monitoring. The videos were created by Golisano Institute's technical staff.
