Professor dt ogilvie receives YES Entrepreneurship Service Award

Saunders distinguished professor Dr. dt ogilvie has been selected as the recipient of the Young Entrepreneurz Solutions (YES) Entrepreneurship Service Award for her role in promoting youth entrepreneurship.

The YES Entrepreneurship Service Award recognizes business, civic, education, and community leaders who have championed youth entrepreneurship and community development.

“We started the award to recognize people our organization has worked with throughout the years building Young Entrepreneurz Solutions into a national program and increasing young people’s awareness of entrepreneurship,” said YES Executive Director and Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Rutgers University Ernest Ruffin, Jr. 

Dr. ogilvie is the founder of RIT’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship, which sponsors the Future Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs (FBLE) program for high school students and trains local entrepreneurs. She served on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Central Upstate New York. In 2013, Dr. ogilvie brought Lemonade Day to Rochester, which teaches K-12 students the power of entrepreneurship by training them to start and run a lemonade stand business.

She encourages students to see what they are capable of.

Outside of Rochester, Professor ogilvie’s work includes the founding and development of the Scholarship Training and Enrichment Program (STEP) for underprepared incoming freshmen at Rutgers University. She has taught her Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation course at Beijing Jiaotong University.

“Professor ogilvie is one of the biggest advocates of entrepreneurship globally,” said Ruffin. “She teaches and consults on entrepreneurship in China, locates investors for programs and entrepreneurs, and has continued these efforts at the Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology.”

Ruffin concluded, “dt is a very deserving recipient of the YES Entrepreneurship Service Award.”
