Part of the annual RIT Faculty in Focus Series, Gallery r presents Denton Crawford’s solo exhibition Savage Sanctuary. Crawford, a visiting assistant professor in RIT’s School of Art, presents a selection of painting, sculpture and installation inspired by pentecostal and pop imagery, addressing the mystery and oddity that spreads from religious and cult mentalities. Mixing sacred iconography with science fiction and using a hyper-neon color palette, Crawford blends contemporary elements to question ancient and modern visions of spiritual devotion.
