Mehdi Mirakhorli, an assistant professor of software engineering, has earned a prestigious National Science Foundation award to develop new technologies that can make software architecture design more intuitive, particularity for novice programmers and new learners.

RIT will use a $5.5 million federal grant to grow a program that trains the next generation of cybersecurity professionals who will help secure the nation. The National Science Foundation awarded RIT the five-year grant that will renew funding for the CyberCorps: Scholars for Service program.

RIT is helping the area’s sharpest young minds gain an interest in cybersecurity careers through free summer programs for middle and high school students. The Co-ed RIT GenCyber camp will be held July 8–12, while the RIT GenCyber for Girls camp will be held July 22–26.

More than 100 RIT students were honored Thursday as Outstanding Undergraduate Scholars. The students were also able to invite the high school or community college teacher that made the most impact on their education.

The Alex A. Kipman ’01 Endowment for the Department of Software Engineering helps students like Robert McLaughlin ’18 work on cutting-edge projects. McLaughlin is one example of how students are already benefiting from RIT’s $1 billion blended campaign.
