We are sending a warm DDI welcome to Ezgi Erdogan. She joined the Office of Faculty Diversity and Recruitment team as the new faculty recruitment assistant on April 11, 2022. Erdogan worked at The Center for Youth as a fund development/special events associate and helped promote social justice for Monroe County youth. She is a new mom, recently welcoming her first baby, Beckett who was born in November. Erdogan and her family immigrated to Rochester from Turkey in 1998.
Keith Jenkins, vice president and associate provost for Diversity and Inclusion, was invited to deliver the keynote address at the new Leadership Ontario Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Program held Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Finger Lakes Community College Geneva Campus. His topic was “The Benefits of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Phillippa Thiuri , interim assistant vice president for Student Access and Success co-led a group of 10 RIT students on a 10-day trip to the Adriatic. (Read more about her trip in Students on the Move)
And we say goodbye and best wishes to Cliff Jacobs whose last day as director of the Native American Future Stewards Program was March 25th. Jacobs was appointed to the position in July of last year and did not hesitate to implement impactful programming to advocate for and support Indigenous students at RIT. In a prepared statement he sent to announce his departure, Cliff included this word of thanks: “RIT has truly become the place that I call my second home and you all have been amazing guides for me in my transition to a new institution and level of work.” Jacobs has accepted a position in another industry.
