Dr. Taj Smith, director of Diversity Education has joined the Levine Center to End Hate Steering Committee. The mission of the center, established through the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester, is to work to unite the greater Rochester community to overcome hate through education, dialogue and positive action.
Belinda Bryce, program director, HEOP, co-presented “The Challenge of Addressing Mental Health for Underrepresented Students at PWIs” at the Higher Education Opportunity Program Professional Organization (HEOPPO) 50th Anniversary Conference in Albany November 7th.
Welcome to the Team!
Thomas Bertram joined the Division of Diversity and Inclusion November 18th as the Veteran Outreach Specialist. He served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps as an enlisted Marine and Commissioned Officer. Tom was a combat veteran with more than 22 years of service. He retired in 2017. He has a BS in Political Science and Criminal Justice and an MBA in Nanoscale Science and Engineering.
Carla Betlem is a familiar face! She has worked at RIT since 2006 and joined the division November 20th as the Senior Staff Assistant to Kit Mayberry. Carla’s talents are many. She served as a Captionist for NTID and most recently as the Reservation and Events Coordinator for the Center for Recreational Sports and Wellness. She teaches volleyball and is a member of a women’s motorcycle club.
