Donathan Brown, assistant provost and assistant vice president, Office of Faculty Diversity and Recruitment, is one of several scholars from across the country who contributed to the article, ‘The Souls of Black Professors” in the Oct. 21st online publication Inside Higher Ed.
Tina Chapman DaCosta, director of Diversity Theater, is happy to share honors for their film, Brick by Brick. It will be shown at the Women of African Descent Film Festival (WADFF) presented by the Brooklyn Chapter of The Links, Incorporated December 12-13, the virtual 2021 Denton Black Film Festival (DBFF), January 27 – February 1in Texas and the film has been nominated for the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). Brick by Brick is used to promote discussion on issues of diversity.
Welcome back! Some good news from Veterans Upward Bound. Dave Oliver, assistant director Educational Outreach, VUB who has been on a military deployment overseas since January 2020, has returned home safely and will be back to work with us after the holidays.
Sandra Whitmore has accepted a board role with the New York State Society of Human Resources (NYSHRM) Board of Directors as Director of Membership beginning January 1, 2021. She will provide leadership to chapter membership directors, assuring they have access to resources necessary to recruit at-large SHRM members to chapters, local chapter members only to SHRM, and non-affiliated HR professionals to both organizations. She will also focus on member engagement/retention measurement and strategies of chapters. Whitmore just completed a two year term as President of the Genesee Valley Chapter of SHRM.
Congratulations to the following DDI colleagues who served as RIT 365 Facilitators this semester. The RIT 365 program includes weekly classes that help first-year RIT students learn more about RIT’s educational and social opportunities through a plan, do, reflect cycle. Belinda Bryce, Kareem Hayes, James Macchiano, Rachel Mathews, Jonathan Ntheketha, Kate Torrey, Devon Watters, Tomicka Wagstaff and Sandy Whitmore.
