Black Heritage Month: We’re Doing Some New Things!
There are new, exciting events and some that are familiar coming in February as RIT celebrates Black Heritage Month. Here is some of what’s in store:
February 1, 12pm-2pm: Black Heritage Month Kickoff - Black Hair: Wear Your Crown! (Fireside Lounge)
February 6, 2:30pm-4pm: Black Heritage Month Film - White Scripts and Black Supermen (MOSAIC)
February 8, 5pm-7pm: Film screening: Forgotten Genius (Fireside Lounge) Open to all RIT community members, light dinner (pizza) provided. Presented by RIT College of Science.
February 10, 11:30am-1:30pm: NTID Annual Luncheon with FMS. Please kindly note this is only for the NTID community. Here is a link to their event.
February 21st, 12-2pm: Third Annual Black Mental Health Matters (BMHM) (Fireside Lounge) Join us for engaging music, activities and giveaways. This event will focus on the importance of mental health in ALANA communities and the impact of racism on individual mental health. Hosted by HEOP/MCAS in partnership with RIT Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS).
February 22, 6pm-8pm: The Black Futures Mixer in Gracie's Dining Common. This is a chance for all Black-identified administrators, faculty, staff, students and alums to network and find belonging. There will be select tables for specific topics related to creating a healthy future for Black people on campus and beyond. There will also be opportunities for “unstructured conversations” too. And get this: The first 70 students, 50 alumni and 30 employees to register will receive a free meal, inspired by the African Diaspora. Register here
