- Triumphs and Aspirations of RIT's Graduating HEOP Scholars
By Maria Vega, Director, Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP)
With the fall semester over and a brand-new semester beginning, the RIT community celebrates the achievements of its dedicated students.
Among these shining stars is HEOP scholar, Prince Chowdhury, who graduated in December with a Bachelor of Science in Packaging Science. Remarkably, Prince isn’t stopping there; he's stepping straight into RIT's prestigious MBA program this spring, as part of the innovative MBA 4+1 program.
Prince's time at RIT has been nothing short of extraordinary. Reflecting on his journey, he credits HEOP for playing a crucial role in his academic and personal development. "HEOP was not just a financial aid resource; it was a mentor, a motivator, and a guide that helped me navigate the complexities of college life," Prince shares. His story is one of perseverance, skill development, and transformation, fostered by the unwavering support of HEOP.
Prince's RIT experience is marked by significant achievements. Earning a place on the Dean's List consistently, securing valuable co-op job offers, and actively participating in leadership roles, like being the president of the HEOP Student Advisory Board, are just a few highlights. These experiences have not only shaped his academic career but also honed his leadership skills.
Choosing to pursue an MBA was a strategic decision for Prince. "The comprehensive nature of my undergraduate major, blending various disciplines, paired seamlessly with the business acumen an MBA would offer," he explains. The accelerated structure of the MBA 4+1 program was a perfect fit for his ambitions, enabling him to fast-track his path to higher education.
Post-MBA, Prince is determined to make a mark in the packaging industry. He sees his MBA as a steppingstone to higher positions within the corporate world. His time at RIT has equipped him with the knowledge and versatility needed to thrive in various roles, aligning with his broad career interests.
Prince’s story is one of many inspiring students at RIT. This December, we also celebrated the success of Josiah Casildo (Global Business Management), Qunzhan Huang (Applied Arts and Sciences), and Larsay Wah (International & Global Studies), with Larsay preparing to embark on her nursing degree next year. Their perseverance and achievements are a testament to the strength and dedication of our HEOP community.
As we applaud these remarkable students, we are reminded of the power of opportunity, support, and hard work. Prince Chowdhury and his fellow graduates embody the spirit of RIT and HEOP – a spirit defined by resilience, ambition, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Congratulations to all our December graduates! Your journeys inspire us, and your futures shine bright.
