- CSTEP Students stand out by receiving multiple scholarships
The Division of Student Affairs celebrated their Community Impact Awards on April 17th where 32 students won awards for their contributions and community service at RIT. CSTEP was well represented at the event by three fabulous young ladies who won five scholarships.
Zayneb Jaff a 4th year student in the Metals & Jewelry Design program won the Kathleen M. Keyes Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship provides incentives to students serving the RIT community through Student Government. Zayneb is well regarded in the community. She has held different leadership roles such as New Student Orientation Leader and was the secretary for the Rescue Shelter Club. Zayneb has won a number of awards during her time at RIT, including this 2019 Student Government Good Samaritan Award and the Women of Color, Honor, and Ambition (WOCHA) of the Year Award. Additionally, Zayneb is a Rochester City Scholar. She will doing research with Dr. Christina Goudreau this summer.
Maria Morcos a 4th year Physician Assistant student won the Alfred L. & Rudy C. Davis Scholarship and the Frederick Douglass Memorial Scholarship. Maria is part of the McNair Scholars Program and the Multicultural Center for Academic Success. She will be doing research at the University of Michigan this summer and will be a Resident Advisor in the fall.
Naia Scott a 5th year Computer Engineering student won the Alfred L. & Rudy C. Davis Scholarship and the Joe T. Ferraro Memorial Scholarship. The Alfred L. & Rudy C. Davis Scholarship recognizes leaders who demonstrate effort towards the improvement and quality of campus life. The Joe T. Ferraro Memorial Scholarship recognizes leaders involved in student activities and campus life who have overcome some degree of adversity in their life. Naia has been involved in a number of leadership roles at RIT. She is the president of the Chi Upsilon Sigma Sorority and is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. Additionally, she has interned with Google, Paychex, and Intel. She will be doing a COOP with Microsoft this summer.
