Congratulations to the following New York State Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) students. Not only are they getting their caps and gowns ready for graduation in a few days—they’re getting their professional wardrobes ready too. They have already accepted job offers!
Abdel Latif Bah Rabiou majored in mechanical engineering and heads to Honeywell Aerospace in Arizona to work as a manufacturing engineer. Andrew Cardenas, an electrical engineering technology major accepted a field engineer position with Carestream. Muni Chowdhury will work as a manufacturing engineer with SPX FLOW in Rochester. She majored in manufacturing engineering technology. Anthony Coneo heads to New Jersey after graduating with a degree in management information systems. He was accepted in the 2022 Graduate Talent Program in the Chief Digital & Information Office with USB Group. Marcos Correa, a management information systems major has been hired by the Durst Organization Summer Program in New York City. Safiya Gazali, a biology major will prepare for medical school while working as an interpreter with the Rochester City School District and Martin Sosa, armed with a degree in civil engineering technology, has accepted a position as a structural engineer intern with Passero & Associates in Rochester, NY.
Belinda Bryce, program director of HEOP says, “We are very proud of our HEOP students. By providing access to RIT and HEOP support throughout their undergraduate career, they go on to accomplish amazing things.”
Congratulations to HEOP alumna Shakierah Smith BS ’18 MS ‘19 who graduates from University at Buffalo School of Law later this month. Smith founded the First-Generation Law Students Association, worked as DEI Editor with the Buffalo Law Review and lists Faculty Research Scholar among her honors. Her next step? Studying for the bar exam.
