Honors for Donathan Brown, assistant provost and assistant vice president, Office of Faculty Diversity and Recruitment. He will be recognized January 21, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia as the recipient of the Excellence in Education Leadership, Diversity | Equity | Inclusion, Humanitarian & Community Engagement award. It is presented by the Board of Trustees of the Not Alone Foundation, Incorporated (NAF), and the Academy of the Diamond Awards. NAF focuses on awareness and prevention of kidney disease. The Diamond Awards is a program “designed to honor faces and images of excellence in the entertainment, corporate and creative industries for their professional accomplishments and contributions to our society on a local, state, or international level.”
We’re fortunate to have him on our team! Victor Davidson, program director of RIT’s TriO Upward Bound is featured in a Democrat and Chronicle article titled “U Prep tackles gun violence”. (October 15, 2022). In addition to his work here, Davidson is the associate head coach and director of player development at University Preparatory Charter School. Read how this coach and mentor’s involvement in the game goes far beyond the gridiron. You will need a subscription to the D&C to access the article here
Congrats to Taj Smith, director of Diversity Education and to all who helped plan and then carry out Together RIT held on October 21st. Smith and a campus-wide group spent months working on the inaugural RIT event. It is an initiative developed from RIT’s Action Plan for Race and Ethnicity. The point: to get people talking with one another about diversity and inclusion. About 700 people registered to take part. Planning is already underway for next year!
We will see you around!
We are sending Monica Thompson, DDI senior staff assistant best wishes! She has accepted a position with RIT Certified. Her last day was November 3rd.
