Robert Bonfiglio, assistant director for Assessment and Academic Success (MCAS) will present along with RIT’s Deana Olles, principal lecturer, School of Mathematics and Statistics, at the 73rd Annual Fall Conference of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State Saturday November 11th in Syracuse, NY. Their presentation is entitled, "College Readiness?: Gaps in the Transition to Higher Education." Bonfiglio, a former mathematics educator, holds an M.S. in Education Policy and is a founding member of the Critical Philosophical and Psychoanalytic Institute for Mathematics Education.
Director of RIT’s Diversity Theater Tina Chapman DaCosta and Matthew Eggert, a first-year international studies and communication major were guests on WXXI’S Connections with Evan Dawson in September. They talked about the art of letter writing compared to the use of electronic communication. They used examples of the way letters between Chapman DaCosta’s parents formed the basis for Diversity Theater’s award-winning short film, DEAR ELEANOR, used in RIT’s 365 program for first-year students.
Keith Jenkins, vice president and associate provost, Division of Diversity and Inclusion and professor of Communication, delivered the keynote address at the Greater Rochester Chamber 2023 Colors of Success DEI Leadership Award program in September. Jenkins, the recipient of the inaugural award last year, also conducted a workshop in October that focused on “Strategies for Making DEI Initiatives Successful” as part of the Colors of Success DEI event series.
