The 42nd Annual Expressions of King’s Legacy will feature Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, New York Times bestselling author of How to Be an Antiracist. Kendi is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities at Boston University, and the founding director of the BU Center for Antiracist Research. He has also produced four other #1 New York Times bestsellers including Antiracist Baby, and Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You, co-authored by Jason Reynolds. In 2020, Time magazine named Dr. Kendi one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Expressions of King’s Legacy, an RIT signature event celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and will take place on January 30, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Gordon Field House. Earlier in January, RIT alum Krystle Ellis ’09,’15 will deliver the keynote address at the annual Let Freedom Ring program. Ellis is described as “bold” and “a multidimensional powerhouse”. She is the owner of Ellis K Consulting, and Interim Executive Director of the Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley. She is a leader in policy remapping, professional development, conflict mediation and operational support. Her company specializes in helping businesses use system-wide change methods to get to the next level. Ellis is a philanthropist and founding member of the Rochester Institute of Technology Sentinel Giving Society. Let Freedom Ring is January 15th from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm in the Ingle Auditorium with a reception to follow in the Fireside Lounge.
