Ready for the runway! Nicole Arcila, first-year Illustration major in the College of Art and Design and an MCAS student, took part in The Charrette, an annual competitive student design challenge for students who are taking foundations courses. Students used all sorts of materials to make unique, wearable sculptures and then showcased them during a reception in MAGIC Spell Studio. Some of the designs even ended up in this year’s Rochester Fashion Week.
Zoii Henry, a fifth- year SOIS student studying Integrative Medical Design, is now a Napier Fellow. Henry was accepted and took part last month in the “Napier Experience”, a day long program hosted by Partners + Napier, a Rochester-based marketing agency. The brand team provided students with practical experiences to help them create and strengthen their own personal brand identity.
Be sure to check out first-year science exploration major Nathalie Phongsavanh and the entire cast in “Thy Name is Woman” based on Ophelia in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. It starts November 9th and runs through November 12th in Lyndon Baines Johnson Hall (LBJ). Phongsavanh takes the stage in the role of Laertes, Ophelia’s brother. View more information

Sharma says it is a valuable resource for all students. “Whether you're grappling with challenging STEM courses or facing difficulties in any subject area, this program is here to provide you with expert peer-to-peer support. So, whether you seek academic assistance or simply need a dedicated space to work, MCAS Hotspot is here to support you.” Sharma is working on a master’s in computer science.
