Harold O. Fields honored as the 2019 Isaac L. Jordan Sr. Pluralism Award
Mr. Jordan’s vision was to build a community that celebrates difference where all individuals could develop to their fullest potential. He was an inspirational leader who motivated others with his authenticity, vision and commitment to promoting a unified community at RIT.
Harold Fields, Director of the Center for Residence Life shares this vision. Through his work in building a diverse team of professional staff and student leaders that reflects our student body’s diversity not only helps our new community members see themselves reflected in the fabric of campus from their first experience in the residence halls it also challenges us to be aware of our own biases, preferences, and areas in which we can grow.
If you take a moment to reflect on Harold’s career at RIT, he has continued to grow both as a person and also in his career trajectory. Harold has and continues to build lasting relationships on campus with faculty, staff and students. Though his work, he activates those around him to walk a life that brings together people, all people.
We congratulate Harold O. Fields as the 2019 Isaac L. Jordan, Sr. Pluralism Award recipient.
“I am honored and humbled to be recognized with the Isaac L. Jordan Sr. Pluralism award. The work this award affirms would not be possible without the dedication of the staff in the Center for Residence Life as well as the support and collaboration of the staff, students and faculty with whom I work. Ensuring our community is inclusive of the diverse identities and perspectives found on our campus is not the work of any one person. It can only be achieved by sharing the responsibility, and striving each day to be better than we were the day before.”
