- Minett Anniversary Memories
This year we celebrate Rochester Institute of Technology’s Minett Professors-past and present.
Started in 1991, this is the 30th anniversary of the program. It brings multicultural professionals from the Rochester area to the RIT campus to share their expertise in a variety of ways with students, faculty and staff. It is an appointed position for one academic year.
In celebration, we are highlighting just a few of these extraordinary individuals who generously give of their time to make a difference at RIT.
Antoinette McCorvey
Vice President for Finance, Administration and CFO
Davidson College, Davidson, NC
When did you serve as a Minett?
I served during the 2010-2011 academic year. I was one of two people named that year, along with James Norman, who was then president and chief executive officer at Action for a Better Community.
What was your professional title/role at that time?
Director, Investor Relations, Eastman Kodak Company
Why did you say yes, to the invitation to serve?
I believe in the value of education and that my personal life story might be an example to someone else.
What was your area of focus?
My background is financial management. As a Minett, I focused on International finance. My work was done at Saunders College of Business. I was a guest lecturer on International Business. I also served as a mentor to two students. Somehow during the pandemic, I have lost track of one of them. Good reminder to follow up!
What experiences stand out during your professorship?
The opportunity to meet amazing students. The opportunity to make connection that could last well beyond the one year.
What did you learn from your year as a Minett?
That small things make a difference. Role models that look like you are important.
