Celebrating Native American Heritage Month
Join us as we honor the rich history and culture of Indigenous Peoples. RIT’s Native American Future Stewards Program has a lot of activities planned to celebrate Native American Heritage Month beginning with an exciting kickoff November 1st from 11-2pm in the Fireside Lounge. Join us for some delicious food and a chance to win some giveaways
Here is a list of some of the other events taking place this month:
November 8th – Stories from the people of the Longhouse with Minett Professor Emeritus Perry Ground.
November 11th - Canandaigua Treaty Day Commemoration. Join us in Canandaigua at the Ontario County Courthouse at 2pm to participate in this annual event.
November 15th – The Skye Women Project and MMIW presented by Alicia Onzahwah (Absentee Shawnee, Kickapoo, & Potawatomi). She will speak on how she is seeking justice for her daughter and the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women epidemic in Indian country. Campus Center CPC-2610 in the Bamboo Room.
November 21st –Fry bread with friends. Come by Colby Kitchen to learn how to make Navajo fry bread with AISES President Sherri Sneezer (Dine, PhD student in Sustainability) and enjoy some traditional Takwahoni (turkey soup) 7-9pm.
