Rochester City Scholar Joseph Vazquez, a second year mechanical engineering major, finished his
LSAMP sponsored summer research with Assistant Professor Ivan Puchades, in the department of Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering, Kate Gleason College of Engineering. His paper is titled “Understanding the Mobility of Graphene through Process Induced Defects.”
Albert Manual, a combat veteran, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Association for Equality and Excellence in Education (AEEE). Veterans Upward Bound nominated him for the award. David Oliver says, “Albert is a disabled veteran. We nominated him due to his dedication in pursuing his educational objectives. He is also very humble regarding where he came from and his journey to assist other veterans.” Manual resides at Richards House which serves homeless veterans. He recently completed an online peer mentoring certification course and plans to attend MCC this fall, majoring in Human Services.
