Dr. Yousef Al-Assaf | Keynote and Welcome Speaker

President, RIT Dubai
Dr. Yousef Al-Assaf is known for his commitment to delivering a career-oriented education for the region, for his sense of values, and his leadership in higher education.

After obtaining his engineering Ph.D. from Oxford University in 1988, Al-Assaf was appointed as the chair of the Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Jordan and was a pioneer in establishing the Engineering Outreach Program. The program won a variety of awards for bridging academia with industry/service sectors. Al-Assaf joined the American University of Sharjah in 1998 and became dean of the College of Engineering in 2006. His research interests include using soft computing tools to model and control various industrial and biomedical systems. Al-Assaf was a consultant for various industries working toward optimizing their operations and manufacturing.

Mr. Saleh Yammout | Keynote and Welcome Speaker

Vice President of Finance and Administration, RIT Dubai
Mr. Saleh Yammout, vice president of Finance and Administration for RIT Dubai and RIT graduate (UG, 2010), has been an integral part of molding RIT Dubai as it exists today. Mr. Yammout oversees most of the global campus’s non-academic operations, including facilities, information technology, human resources, and admissions.

Relocating to New York state in the U.S. in 2006 with his family, he enrolled at RIT’s main campus in 2008, and he earned his economics degree in 2010. In 2011, he left the U.S. to move to the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, where he worked in the finance industry for several years. He said when he was a student, he was unaware RIT had a campus in Dubai, but in 2015, he joined RIT Dubai as assistant vice president of Finance and Administration.

RIT Dubai has experienced tremendous growth. Mr Yammout has been a key contributor to the noteworthy expansion. From 2017 to 2021, the campus student population grew from 504 to more than 1,000; the faculty and staff population increased from 53 to 90; the campus footprint went from about 4,000 square meters to approximately 129,000 square meters; and it went from having six labs to 19 labs and an innovation center. 

Today, RIT Dubai is amid a strategic plan to help continue with the growth of its campus, expansion of enrollment and strengthening of RIT’s global brand. He expects construction on phase two of the new campus—which will allow RIT Dubai to accommodate up to 4,000 students—will begin in the next several years.

Kathleen Davis, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Associate Provost at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has been a leader in higher education enrollment management for over twenty years.

Throughout her career, Ms. Davis has successfully developed and implemented strategic initiatives aimed at building and sustaining new student enrollment across various student populations, including first-year, transfer, graduate, and international students.

 

A dedicated advocate for global diversity, Davis is passionate about creating pathways that allow students, faculty, and staff to explore learning opportunities worldwide. Her commitment to expanding access and engagement beyond traditional classroom experiences is rooted in her belief in the power of experiential learning. Davis’s forward-thinking approach ensures that RIT remains a leader in innovative, inclusive, and hands-on education.
