Chemical Engineering Faculty Research Labs
State of the art faculty research labs are housed on the 2nd floor of Institute Hall, the same floor as faculty offices and the Unit Operations Laboratory. These 730 square feet labs can be easily reconfigured as there is a movable center island with utilities that drop from overhead carriers (electricity, air, vacuum, ventilation to enable benchtop chemistry). Each lab has two large hoods with chemical storage. There is office space for students as well as an equipment room that adjoins each lab. Internal doorways between all faculty research labs may be used to enable collaborative work at discretion of professors. The department has a shared equipment room that includes a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Department faculty utilize a Battery Prototyping Lab that includes a multitude of specialized equipment, including a roll-to-roll coater that can be used to create thin film coatings for a variety of applications beyond batteries.
