A firm believer in STEM education, Dimple Joseph Higdon has been immersed in it since she was a child, from spending time with her mother who was a teacher to attending STEM camps during her summer breaks.
Her passion for science, technology, engineering and math only grew as she got older, which led her to attend and graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and master’s degree in Engineering Management.
With a focus on processes and behavior, Dimple has navigated a dynamic career path within the healthcare manufacturing industry. At Abbott, she contributed significantly across various teams, playing a pivotal role in the production of BinaxNOW, Abbott’s COVID-19 Ag Rapid Test, and in the expansion of their Diabetes Care Continuous Glucose Monitor portfolio, FreeStyle Libre. In pursuit of a new challenge, she transitioned to the semiconductor industry as a Reliability Engineer at Samsung Austin Semiconductor.
Driven by a passion for cultivating environments of continuous improvement and digital inclusivity, Dimple remains actively engaged in her professional endeavors. She champions STEM education, mentoring through programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters as a Big Sister, and locally, guiding a middle school robotics team in Austin. As a member of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers, she harnesses her expertise in Lean Six Sigma and Shingo methodologies to foster positive workplace cultures. Recognizing her contributions and leadership, in 2022, she was honored with the Emerging Leader Award by the Kate Gleason College of Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
In her leisure time, Dimple enjoys reading, podcasts, running and rock climbing.
