Steve Skelley is a senior legal advisor and litigator with a primary focus on generating value for intellectual property. While Steve's primary focus has been intellectual property law, he also has a strong knowledge of commercial contracts, anti-trust, and privacy law.
Steve is recognized as an effective communicator and creative legal problem solver, able to advance projects in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments. Steve is also a skilled negotiator who maintains composure under pressure and can find constructive compromise while still achieving business objectives.
Steve is currently Head of Intellectual Property Licensing at DivX, LLC, where he runs the company's intellectual property licensing program alongside DivX's CEO. Prior to joining DivX, Steve was a partner at Folio Law Group, PLLC, where he helped clients navigate difficult intellectual property issues in a range of technologies like cellular and WiFi communications, streaming video, and medical devices. Prior to joining Folio Law Group, Steve served as Director of Patent Litigation at Intellectual Ventures, where he managed a portfolio of global patent litigation with a heavy emphasis on telecommunications technologies. Steve has also worked in private practice at top global law firms, serving clients in diverse legal disputes.
Steve graduated from RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering with a degree in electrical engineering and worked at Harris RF Communications in Rochester before heading to law school.
