RIT Professor Nominated for Rochester Engineer of the Year Award
Kandlikar among elite group of local engineers being recognized
Satish Kandlikar, the James E. Gleason Professor in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering is among the finalists for the 2008 Leo H. East Engineer of the Year Award. The award is given annually by the Rochester Engineering Society to recognize contributions to the engineering profession.
Kandlikar has been a member of the RIT mechanical engineering department since 1980. His research areas include flow boiling, critical heat flux, contact line heat transfer and advanced cooling techniques.
In 1997, he was presented with the Eisenhart Outstanding Teaching Award. Outside of the classroom, he manages the Thermal Analysis Lab and advises graduate and Ph.D. students. Kandlikar is also the founder and an active member of the E3 Fair, a science and engineering fair held annually at RIT for area middle school students.
The Engineer of the Year award will be presented at the 107th Rochester Engineering Society Annual Gala at 5 p.m. on March 14 at the Riverside Convention Center.
