WE@RIT Hosts Creative Robotic Design Workshop for Middle School-Age Girls
Full day programs focus on building robots using Lego Mindstorm
The Women in Engineering organization at Rochester Institute of Technology is hosting a two-day Park & Ride Creative Robotic Design workshop Jan. 30 and 31. The event, open to girls in the sixth-to-eighth grades, takes place in the Xerox Auditorium in the James E. Gleason Building at RIT.
“The workshop introduces girls to engineering and physics concepts in a fun way,” says Jodi Carville, program coordinator for WE@RIT. “Participants are paired with other girls and an RIT engineering student. Teams work together to design and build their robot and guide it through an ‘amusement park’ setting.”
The cost for the two-day program is $75 per person and includes lunch both days. The event runs 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, and 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31. Registration is required by Jan. 21, and forms for the workshop can be found at: RIT's Women in Engineering(WE@RIT) website.
