This presentation will cover image processing and computer vision in a variety of science and engineering projects including environmental, agricultural, biological, as well as transdisciplinary engineering research.

Abstract
:

Imaging modalities are application dependent. Different imaging sensors respond to separate parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, allowing imaging at various wavelengths for different applications. This presentation will cover image processing and computer vision in a variety of science and engineering projects including environmental, agricultural, biological, as well as transdisciplinary engineering research. Particular focus is given to imaging systems and computer vision solutions.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Mehrube "Ruby" Mehrubeoglu is a Professor and Program Coordinator at the Department of Engineering. She received her BS degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and her MS degree in Bioengineering and Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station. After working in the high-tech industry on projects involving software engineering and machine vision applications, she returned to academia. She joined Texas A&M University in 2005. Since then, she has been working on transdisciplinary projects that incorporate computer vision tools and methods to analyze images acquired through different imaging modalities (visible-range color, thermal, hyperspectral) to solve problems in science and engineering. She is an inventor on two patents, and author and co-author on over 120 journal and conference publications. She is an active member of the IEEE and ASEE, and life member of SPIE.
