Alpha Phi Alpha Mu Sigma Endowed Scholarship Giving Page

"Goodwill is the monarch of this house..."

Since its founding on December 4, 1906, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. has supplied voice and vision to the struggle of African-Americans and people of color around the world.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY by seven college men who recognized the need for a strong bond of brotherhood among African descendants in the country.

Since the establishment of the Alpha Phi Alpha Mu Sigma Chapter on January 22, 1977, over 100 undergraduate brothers have been initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated in Rochester, NY.

The Alpha Phi Alpha Mu Sigma Endowed Scholarship at RIT was established in 2013 by Marcus Parker, Sr. BS '98, MS '02 and Meta Parker, joined by members of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. The goal of this scholarship, in addition to providing support to RIT students, is to build a lasting bond between the Mu Sigma Chapter on campus, and the Mu Sigma Chapter Alumni Network worldwide.

The scholarship is awarded to full-time undergraduate students in good academic standing with a preference for students with demonstrated financial need. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants submit a one-page essay outlining academic excellence and community service in demonstration of the aims of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.
