3D Print Waste Repurposing

Location

Student Hall for Exploration and Development (SHD/011) - A360

The project is a machine that can repurpose PLA waste material from the SHED, such as supports and failed prints. The method for heating and forming is very much like an injection molder. The end design will be able to swap out different molds such that we can create a multitude of products. We would like to be able to create a subsystem that is capable of grinding more robust waste, but we may end up simply using pre-ground material. The goal is to implement automation where possible - preparation, force generation, and mold actuation - but that may not be feasible given the time constraints of the semester. The project is still in its infancy and this submission will be updated later in the semester before March 10th.
