Aloe Vera - Interactive Music Experience
Our activity is an interactive music experience centered around the environment and growth. For this experience, we will be using projections and “game-like” interactions. The experience will require three walls: one in the center that is hosting the interactive component and two side walls that will have projected visuals. The projected video on the side walls will be created by using a kinesthetic animation style to flicker through microscopic and illustrated nature visuals. The interactive component will use a controller and a projection to show the user navigating through a 3D space. This experience will take the user through a series of environments starting from chaotic and clustered to a scene of peace and serenity. The final task for the user will be planting a sunflower seed on the top of a hill and overlooking a beautiful mountain range. This interactive experience symbolizes leaving negativity behind, following your dreams and reaching a state of paradise. While the user is navigating through the environments, the song “Aloe Vera” will be playing in the background and will be synced up with the visuals on the two side walls. This visuals may also include the lyrics of the song. Along with the projected visuals, we will also be setting up the space with real plants and decorations to make the user feel more immersed in the space and connected to nature. For the setup, we will require a room with at least one projector and the lights will need to be off. We have the ability to set up curtains for the other two walls using C-stands, but we would ideally love to project on 2 larger walls, or use the set pieces available in Magic. Our first location preference is Magic Sound Stage East so that we have access to these set pieces. Our secondary preference would be a room with a projector where we can move the tables to the edges of the room (ideally not a lab). We also prefer to have a space located in Magic, Gannett, or Booth on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd floor (in that order). Here is a list of other rooms that we have found that could potentially work: Booth 1560 Booth 1441 (the size is good but would need to set up projector) Magic 2015 (the size is good and is in a location with a lot of traffic, but we would have to figure out how to set up the projector and remove the table and chairs from the room) The William Harris Gallery would also be a great space but I assume it will be booked with another exhibit. We are open to sharing spaces with other exhibits but ours will be playing music so that would need to be considered. We would love for someone to reach out to us with any other potential space options before we settle on one so that we can take a look and see which would work best for our set up!
