Apple to Delicious Cider

We built a *time machine*, sort of. Travel back to the earliest days of settlers in New England and see a press for one of most popular drinks of the time: hand pressed apple cider. As engineers, our passion for creating explores many different avenues. Apples to Delicious Cider was a passion project inspired by the RIT Engineering House annual apple picking excursion. The process of designing and building our own apple press challenged us to consider material selection, production capacity, modular design, and regulatory constraints governing food and beverage production. We utilized 21st century tools such as SolidWorks CAD software to develop and refine the design and then used RIT's maker space to produce the parts. We look forward to the cider press becoming part of Engineering House tradition. Please stop by to learn more about the Engineering House and the design process!
