Automated Cold Press for All-Solid-State Battery Manufacturing
Our exhibit, "Automated Cold Press for All-Solid-State Battery Manufacturing," will showcase a modified benchtop cold press, specifically designed for all-solid-state battery (ASSB) component manufacturing. This advanced system features a linear actuator and sensors that precisely regulate the pressure and press-hold time, automating the pressing process with a closed-loop control structure. By enhancing the homogeneity, surface roughness, and repeatability of pressed materials, our technology addresses key challenges in battery production, paving the way for more efficient and reliable solid-state batteries. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with a live demonstration of the automated cold press in action. They can observe how the system applies controlled pressure to powdered materials, mimicking the solid electrolyte used in battery production. Through an interactive interface, attendees can input their desired press parameters and see real-time feedback from pressure sensors and motor controls. This exhibit aims to engage attendees by highlighting the critical role of precision in battery component manufacturing and demonstrating how automation can standardize processes for improved material properties. By exploring the connection between manufacturing techniques and battery performance, visitors will gain insight into the challenges of ASSB production and how engineering innovations are addressing them. Through this experience, participants will learn about the importance of consistent pressure application in battery component fabrication, how automation improves manufacturing repeatability and material quality, the impact of interface quality on battery safety and performance. The exhibit is designed to be engaging for all audiences, from engineering students and professionals to general attendees interested in emerging battery technologies. Through interactive demonstrations, visuals, and informative explanations, we aim to provide an educational and hands-on experience that highlights the future of solid-state battery manufacturing.
