BetterBonds: A digital platform that helps cultivate meaningful relationships
Introduction: BetterBonds is a digital platform that helps you cultivate meaningful relationships with friends, family, or even with your romantic partner. For individuals aged 18-30 seeking assistance in nurturing their relationships, we offer a unique digital solution that stands out from your traditional dating apps. Our product prioritizes convenience and affordability, providing tools such as calendars with innovative tools and resources to optimize their relationships effortlessly. In the future, our product will expand its services to provide personalized relationship advice, interactive activities, and communication tools to enhance the user experience in their relationship and within the product. Activity Overview: Setup: BetterBonds startup project by RIT students. We will be introducing our startup ideas and setting up games and interviews to help participants understand our project and gain insights throughout the game. Location: We would set up in the Simone Center, leveraging a space equipped with desks, chairs, and laptops. Upon consideration of the available rooms, Room 1135 would be a good option for hosting the event. Instruction: We will be having our “The Perfect Date Idea” (or Hangout) by playing a Gartic Phone game. The game will help people understand the importance of communication in relationships and the powerful impact communication can have on our lives. Challenge: Teams will compete with one another to plan, draw, and then explain what they believe the perfect date (hangout) would be! Different team members will be limited to specific tasks, so the same person is not able to draw and then explain their idea. Completion: By finishing the activity, participants should see that how they describe and picture an idea could differ greatly from another, even if they have the strongest bonds. Our participants will walk away ideally with a new perspective about how they should be communicating effectively. Incentives: We will offer candy and prizes to the team that persuades the rest that their idea is the best. Plus everyone will gain some ideas for a future date or hangout. Educational Benefits: Critical Thinking Skills: Participants will be encouraged to analyze various ranges of drawings and descriptions to decipher the intended ideas behind them, specifically focusing on small details and repeating patterns. This involves breaking down information they receive, identifying key elements, and making logical connections. Communication Skills: Participants will have the opportunity to participate in the games and learn the importance of communication and gain skills to better understand each other. The games will allow individuals to express themselves clearly and accurately through verbal and nonverbal communication. Problem-Solving Skills: Participants will have the opportunity to apply their problem-solving skills in a dynamic setting, fostering a better understanding of the application of dealing with communication challenges. Creativity: Participants will be coming up with creative drawings and descriptions within a limited timeframe, which encourages thinking outside of the box and tapping into one’s imagination. Adaptability: Participants must quickly adapt to new information and interpretations as the game progresses. In real-world situations, adaptability helps individuals in navigating unexpected situations. Conclusion: Through partaking in BetterBonds’ Gartic Phone game, we hope to offer participants invaluable insights into their relationships and understanding of differing perspectives. They would also learn the importance of communication throughout the activities and hopefully to implement in their real life. Not only will participants sharpen their critical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity, and adaptability, but they will also gain a deeper understanding of the importance of communication and how relationships play a significant impact on our daily lives.
