BloodRay: A Sterilization Assurance Device

Location

Institute Hall (INS/073) - Institute Hall

Visitors to our exhibit will experience an interactive demonstration of our luminol-based contamination detection system, designed to assess residual blood on surgical instruments—a critical step in preventing surgical site infections. Despite rigorous sterilization protocols, current validation methods are often time-consuming or unreliable, leaving instruments at risk of contamination. Our solution provides a fast, user-friendly way to verify cleanliness. Visitors will see the chemiluminescent reaction in action as luminol is applied to a pre-contaminated scalpel, revealing hidden blood residues and showcasing the importance of real-time contamination assessment.
