Brewers Waste Recycling and Fatbergs Galore

Come on in and check out two capstone project demonstrations. Both deal in waste one with waste water and one waste food. Up first Brewers Spent Grain: From Waste To Worth. Visitors will get to smell and handle brewers waste from each step in the process of waste to worth conversion. Visitors will also get to see real spent grain flour and snacks made from the spent grain for human consumption. Up next Fatberg: How Fats, Oils and Grease Take Over Sewers. Visitors will get to see how Fats Oils and Greases from cooking cause problems in pipes from your home to the sewer. Demonstrators will set up a display sink and show how fats solidify and create clogs in pipes, they will also show various small scale jar size examples of fat bergs. Students will also talk about the benefits of recycling Fats Oils and Greases, some uses for the material and their project to propose a Fats Oil and Grease recycling program at student housing.
